Rockstars wanted!

We are a all volunteer organization and are always looking for volunteers. To learn more about programs that we support, please see our Programs page.

Some volunteer positions will require a background check and fingerprinting.

The Radar Reader Board Project (RRB) is run by volunteers. This is a one week long commitment every 4 to 6 weeks (depending on the number of volunteers.)

  • All volunteers must fill out an application and be fingerprinted. A safe driving record is a mandatory requirement. The volunteer coordinating the RRB will walk you through the steps for maintaining and operting the RRB. If a hitch and/or electrical work is needed on the volunteers vehicle, Walla Walla Area Crime Watch will cover the costs.
  • Volunteers pick up the RRB, take it out and park it on the city streets in the morning and pick up before dark for 5 consecutive days. At the end of their volunteer week the RRB is turned over to the next volunteer.
  • Knowing where to put the RRB: School zones have a high priority and then there are occasionally special requests from officers or citizens. There is a list of locations of hot spots that the RRB volunteer can choose from.

We need liasons between the agencies and the families participating in this event; making sure the children have their uniforms, they arrive at the photo shoot and events on time, etc.

This event coincides with National Night Out where the children ride in emergency service vehicles in the opening parade and then are "sworn in" at National Night Out.

We have one photo shoot day prior to National Night Out and the children also participate in the Fair parade.

GOT DRUGS?

The National Prescription Drug Take-Back day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription and over-the-counter drugs, while also educating the general public about the abuse of medications. This event is held in the Spring and Fall.

This program has grown with each event. We started with one location at the Walla Walla Police Department and have since expanded to having an additional location at the College Place Police Department and another in the county in Burbank or Waitsburg with the Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office.

Walla Walla Area Crime Watch sponsors a free Shred Event alongside the Prescription Drug Take-Back day to help combat identity theft by providing a shred truck on site. For the past several years we have made this into a fundraiser by asking for donations.

Crime Watch volunteers man the shred event and help at the Prescription Drug Take-Back table, assisting the officers.

This event is held twice a year; once in the spring and again in the fall.
