Volunteer
Rockstars wanted!
We are a all volunteer organization and are always looking for volunteers. To learn more about programs that we support, please see our Programs page.
Some volunteer positions will require a background check and fingerprinting.
Click on any of the following tabs for additional information about these volunteer positions:
Location: College Place & Walla Walla - Department: CPPD & WWPD
The Radar Reader Board Project (RRB) is run by volunteers. This is a one week long commitment every 4 to 6 weeks (depending on the number of volunteers.)
- All volunteers must fill out an application and be fingerprinted. A safe driving record is a mandatory requirement. The volunteer coordinating the RRB will walk you through the steps for maintaining and operting the RRB. If a hitch and/or electrical work is needed on the volunteers vehicle, Walla Walla Area Crime Watch will cover the costs.
- Volunteers pick up the RRB, take it out and park it on the city streets in the morning and pick up before dark for 5 consecutive days. At the end of their volunteer week the RRB is turned over to the next volunteer.
- Knowing where to put the RRB: School zones have a high priority and then there are occasionally special requests from officers or citizens. There is a list of locations of hot spots that the RRB volunteer can choose from.

We provide the equipment, you provide the labor. We have a truck available to haul the glass-blaster to locations to remove graffiti from buildings. Permission must be received from building owners prior to graffiti removal.
Check out our YouTube video of our graffiti abatement team in action.
Location: Walla Walla County - Department: WWPD
We need at least two volunteers at each SafeAssured ID event; one to assist in filling out the paperwork for each participant, entering data into the software and one to take photos/video and fingerprint the children. All necessary equipment is provided.
We hold approximately two to three SafeAssured ID events every year.
Location: Walla Walla County - Department: CPPD, WWPD, WWFD, WWSO, WSP
We need liasons between the agencies and the families participating in this event; making sure the children have their uniforms, they arrive at the photo shoot and events on time, etc.
This event coincides with National Night Out where the children ride in emergency service vehicles in the opening parade and then are "sworn in" at National Night Out.
We have one photo shoot day prior to National Night Out and the children also participate in the Fair parade.

GOT DRUGS?
The National Prescription Drug Take-Back day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription and over-the-counter drugs, while also educating the general public about the abuse of medications. This event is held in the Spring and Fall.
This program has grown with each event. We started with one location at the Walla Walla Police Department and have since expanded to having an additional location at the College Place Police Department and another in the county in Burbank or Waitsburg with the Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office.
Walla Walla Area Crime Watch sponsors a free Shred Event alongside the Prescription Drug Take-Back day to help combat identity theft by providing a shred truck on site. For the past several years we have made this into a fundraiser by asking for donations.
Crime Watch volunteers man the shred event and help at the Prescription Drug Take-Back table, assisting the officers.
This event is held twice a year; once in the spring and again in the fall.
Location: Pioneer Park
Volunteers are needed to help inflate 1,000 National Night Out balloons, help with registration, environmental control (garbage collection), setting up tables and canopies, assisting participants when needed, and help with take down when the event is over.
This event is held once a year on the first Tuesday of August.
Location: Walla Walla
The Crime Watch Balloon Stampede Pancake Breakfast, held Mother's Day Weekend, is perhaps our biggest fundraiser. We serve upwards of 700 people in one weekend.
This is a volunteer based fundraiser with multiple volunteer jobs. Volunteers are needed to: set up and take down, flipping pancakes, serving food, making and serving coffee and cocoa, and cleaning tables.
Location: Walla Walla
Our goal is to publish a newsletter once a quarter to recap events, progress we have made, upcoming events and projects we are working on.
